ADVANCED 2-D ART STUDIO FOR TEENS
This 6-week intensive course is intended for teenagers who are interested in seriously pursuing art beyond high school and interested in developing their skills and creativity towards a polished and well-rounded portfolio. The course will focus on drawing from life, including from live, clothed models, as well as give an overview of different materials and techniques, including graphite, pen & ink, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint. Students will be instructed in the elements of art and principles of design and will learn how to incorporate these into their drawings and paintings.
Specific topics covered will include: gestural drawing, figure drawing, portraiture, and composition and design; however, the projects will personally cater to the students’ individual foci. In addition to skill-development, this course will review post-high school options for pursuing art and help guide students into schools or fields that will complement their interests and talents. Assistance on AP portfolios and art school applications will be provided.
While this course was designed for high school aged students, middle school aged students with an exceptional ability for and commitment to art are welcome to register.
